Rihanna's rep says, rumors of the two collaborating on a song called 'Broken Heels' are 'not true.'
By James Montgomery
Sad news for anyone eager to hear that rumored Rihanna/Lady Gaga collaboration: It's not happening.
That's according to a rep for RiRi, who told MTV News on Friday (October 15) that a story about a team-up between the two artists — reportedly on a song called "Broken Heels" — was "not true."
Earlier this week, reports began circulating that the two talents — who, between them, have more #1s on Billboard's Pop Chart than any other artist — would be joining forces on "Heels," which was set to be featured on Rihanna's forthcoming album Loud. The source for those reports was an alleged scan of the album's back cover, which listed the song as "featuring Lady Gaga."
The rep didn't say anything about that image to MTV, but Just Jared quotes a rep for Rihanna as saying that it's a fake. A spokesperson for Rihanna's label, Island/Def Jam, did not respond to MTV News' request for comment on the matter.
Loud is scheduled to hit stores on November 16, and it does feature confirmed guest appearances from Drake (on a remix of "What's My Name?") and Nicki Minaj (on a "fun ... quirky" song called "Raining Men"). On Wednesday (October 13), Rihanna premiered the video for "Only Girl (in the World)," the official first single from the album. "Only Girl" is in its fifth week on the Billboard Hot 100, where it sits at #6.

When the spotlight was shining on Selita Ebanks this weekend during the premiere of Kanye West's "Runaway" short film, the former Victoria's Secret model wasn't exactly basking in the attention.
"I was sick at home," Ebanks told MTV News on Monday (October 25). "I watched it when everybody else watched it. I was blowing my nose but guarantee I was dancing on my bed. I was by myself, but it was OK. It was a good time to reflect and appreciate it without anybody around."
Ebanks starred in "Runaway" as the phoenix, the lead character in the film, who symbolically represents the rapper's fall and rise over the past 12 months or so. The role didn't require much dialogue, but Ebanks has received praise for giving the phoenix life using her artful physical movements as a means of communication. She had to develop the phoenix herself, because, as she put it, "[Kanye] told me about the character, but he didn't give her a character."
"He didn't give her a personality, so we had to sit down and I just picked his brain," Ebanks explained. "As we went along, I personally developed this character. I wanted her to seem more real and relatable and I wanted people to sympathize with her. Because it's a part of his story, so I tried to understand what the message [was] that he was trying to get across and really embody that in the phoenix, so that his story could be more understandable."
Immediately following the debut of "Runaway," Kanye West told MTV News' Sway that Ebanks "killed it" during her performance. He also predicted her career would change as a result of her critically acclaimed turn in the project.
Ebanks was more measured in her reaction to the praise. She plans to pursue acting but for now, she's taking things one day at a time.
"It's crazy, it's like a whole different life," she said of all the praise. "I'm just really, really humbled by the amazing, positive responses that we've been getting. Looking at the film, it's crazy, because I feel like I'm looking outside of myself, like I'm looking at someone else. I have to look in the mirror to remind myself that that's me. And the fact that people have been so kind and generous with their words, it's been pretty humbling. I'm just trying to take it one day at a time.
"So today is Monday and I'm loving Monday right now!" she said.

Don't call it a comeback, but following a tumultuous 2009 that included a messy divorce, Usher could describe the past 12 months as his climb back to the top. Now, he's celebrating with a national tour.
"Been hard at work getting ready for this tour ... Man, ya'll are really in for a treat," the singer tweeted Monday. "I'm on. Twits back up."
Recently, MTV News caught up with Ursh about his upcoming national run.
"The tour starts November 13 in Seattle," Usher said. "[Producer] Max Martin made an incredible record with 'DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love,' but what would I expect: less? He's one of the best."
Racking up several hits on the Billboard chart this year, including "OMG" featuring will.i.am, his current single checks in at #5 on the Hot 100, and Usher couldn't be happier.
"[I'm] loving it. Just in time for an incredible tour," Usher said during a recent visit to New York. "I took a step away from L.A. tonight. My dancers and crew are real hot with me right now."
Earlier this week, the singer was nominated for four Soul Train Awards, along with Alicia Keys. Usher is up for Best R&B/Soul Artist Male, Song of the Year, Album of the Year and Best Dance Performance.
The singer was confident that his upcoming run will be memorable. "The tour's gonna be incredible," Usher said. "Incredible records go with incredible tours."

Teen superstar Justin Bieber is reportedly involved in an investigation in his native Canada for an alleged assault at a Richmond, British Columbia laser tag center.
Royal Canadian Mounted Police confirmed Sunday (October 17) that an investigation was underway regarding an incident at a "Richmond entertainment facility" just before 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The father of a 12-year-old boy told authorities that his son was assaulted by another young male at the facility. The tween didn't need medical attention and walked away with "minimal injuries."
Since the suspect is under 18, police have not released the name of the accused party. However, many reports have stated that 16-year-old Bieber is being pegged as the attacker and the RCMP has stated, "We are aware of speculations concerning the identity of one of the parties allegedly involved."
A rep for Bieber did not respond to MTV News' request for comment at press time. Bieber, an avid tweeter, has not yet addressed reports either.
Unnamed sources have told TMZ that the incident went down at Planet Lazer, a laser tag chain that has a location in Richmond. The website, however, paints a different picture of the incident, reporting that Bieber was targeted by an overzealous laser tag participant who lobbed an anti-gay slur at the teen idol. When the 12-year-old stuck his hand out toward Bieber, the pop sensation apparently batted it away and then left the center.
The incident comes during a busy time for the "Baby" crooner. The singer announced Friday that his buzzed-about 3-D flick "Never Say Never" will be released in February. His illustrated memoir, "Justin Bieber: First Step 2 Forever: My Story," just hit shelves and he is helming a nail polish line. His chart-topping music continues to make an impact and the singer is up for four American Music Award trophies.

Awards-show executive producer teases Ush's 'best televised dance routine' in years.

Usher's VMA rehearsal on September 9
Photo: Ciel VanderVeen/MTV
LOS ANGELES — The success of Usher's "OMG" is as much a testament to his unyielding popularity as an artist as it is his ability to, well, dance his ass off. That's particularly apparent in the Video Music Award-nominated video for the song, which features Ush and a bevy of beauties popping, locking, pivoting and posing in ways we never thought possible. Quite simply, the man can move.
So when it came time to plot out his VMA performance, well, Usher's team -- and the brain trust behind the show -- didn't have a whole lot of trouble coming up with a concept. The dancing was going to be front and center. The only question was: How could they take things to the next level.
"We all sat in a room and came up with a concept for the stage, and then we took that concept to Usher," VMA executive producer Dave Sirulnick told MTV News. "We said to him, 'We want to do the best televised dance routine that you've done in years. Let's show why you're the king.' "
And Ush's Sunday night performance is very much an affair worthy of royalty. Full of eye-popping moves, hip-dipping dancers and more special effects than a Hollywood blockbuster, it makes full use of not just the epic VMA stage (which practically engulfs the entirety of Nokia Theater), but the space behind it.
While we can't give away too many details, based on the rehearsals we saw Thursday, the off-the-wall choreography is only part of the attraction. There are lasers and LED lights, stunts, slides and even some props. Like we said, it's kind of like a Hollywood blockbuster. And kind of a coronation too. After all, Usher is the king.
The 27th annual MTV Video Music Awards will be broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday. The party starts with MTV News' VMA Pre-Show at 8 p.m., followed by the main event at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Fans can go to VMA.MTV.com (or text VMA to 97979 if they are Verizon subscribers) to vote for Best New Artist from now through Sunday.

After 35-minute short premieres on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET, use the hashtag #askkanye to probe West during a live Q&A on MTV and MTV.com.
By Jayson Rodriguez
If Kanye West is nothing else, he is a complex MC. For his latest visual, "Runaway," the rapper directed a 35-minute short film that tells the story of a fallen phoenix. The video is awe-inspiring, puzzling, celebratory, dark, anything you can think — except simple.
After the clip premieres this weekend, however, viewers will have the chance to ask the man himself, Kanye West, about the vision behind the project. West will sit down with MTV News' Sway and take Twitter questions from fans using the hashtag #askkanye. The interview is set for Saturday, October 23, and will broadcast live on MTV and MTV.com immediately after the debut airing of "Runaway" at 8 p.m. ET.
The Chicago lyricist has been screening the short film around the world, first overseas in London and Paris and this past week, Stateside, in Los Angeles, Chicago and New York. After the L.A. premiere, Kanye spoke with MTV News about the protagonist in the film, the fallen phoenix, and how it relates to his own journey.
"I love characters in general, but [I loved] how colorful the bird is and just the design, it's just something I would've picked or drawn as a 5-year-old," West explained. "It definitely relates to everything that I've been through, like, burning to the ashes and rebuilding and becoming a better person and delivering better product."
In addition to West, Victoria's Secret model Selita Ebanks stars in "Runaway" portraying the aforementioned phoenix. Ebanks traveled to Prague to film the production and was effusive in her praise of West. She credited his artistic vision with giving her a sense of ease on the set.
"It's extremely easy to work with him, understanding that everything with him comes from an artistic standpoint, because he is an artist and he has this vision," Ebanks told MTV News. "I honestly was just so excited and honored that he even considered me for it."
Kanye West's "Runaway" will premiere on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET on MTV, MTV2 and BET, and will also stream live on MTV.com, BET.com and VH1.com, followed by a live Q&A session on MTV and MTV.com.

Well, that's it, folks. Jersey Shore aired its Season 2 finale on Thursday. Now where will you go for your weekly fix of hot tub hookups? MTV's Real World: Las Vegas doesn't start until March. But chin up, Shore fans, you won't have to wait long for Season 3. It premieres Jan. 6.
What can viewers expect? "All the relationships start taking a turn, some for the good, some for the bad," executive producer SallyAnn Salsano told The Hollywood Reporter. "The kids legitimately grow up and come into their own in front of your eyes."
Though rumors are swirling about Pauly D and Snooki spinoffs, Salsano won't get specific. "We shoot with the kids all the time," she says. "We’re always constantly shooting with them in their lives. I don't know if there is anything official."
Last but not least, Conan O'Brien has announced the names of stars visiting his show during its premiere week (TBS, Nov. 8, 11 p.m. ET). Here's who you'll be treated to:

Great news today out of the camp of TJ Lavin: the BMX star, who was placed in a medically-induced coma following a terrible crash on October 14, is speaking and breathing on his own.
"He's answering questions," friend and business partner Chas Aday told People. "He'll say 'yes' a little bit and he knows where he is, but he's not opening his eyes yet."
This is considered major progress for the host of MTV's The Challenge, who has been in the trauma unit of a Las Vegas hospital for over a week.
Aday says his friend will need rehab to "get back to normal," but doctors don't expect there to be any resulting bran damage from the accident. Their next step will to perform surgery on his broken wrist.
"We're waiting on the orthopedic surgeon on when they're going to do that," Aday says. "Then we'll see when he'll be [released]. He may be there another week."

Ush combined his legendary dance skills with spectacular special effects.

Usher performs at the 2010 VMAs

Call it what you will: talent, swag, skills. But one thing's true about Usher Terry Raymond IV: When he steps on the dance floor, some mysterious thing comes out of him and puts the G in groove. After he was tapped to perform at the 27th annual MTV Video Music Awards, executive producer Dave Sirulnick challenged Usher to "show why you're king," and the 31-year-old Grammy winner didn't disappoint.
As predicted by the lucky few who got a peek at Thursday's practice performance for his hit "OMG," Ush pulled off moves that would make the late great Michael Jackson jealous in a mammoth stage production that included more special-effects bells and whistles than a summer blockbuster.
Usher opened the performance with "DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love," perched two flights above the stage on a ledge surrounded by blinding green laser lights. Then he slid, with the help of barely visible wires and mounts, down a flight, all the while popping and locking. When the father of two finally ticked his way down to stage level, he was surrounded by an army of dancers also clad in black suits with white stripes designed to toss and catch special effect lights.
Directed by Anthony Mandler, Usher's "OMG" clip earned Best Male Video, Best Dance Music Video and Best Choreography Moonman nominations. During the pre-show, Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance" beat it in the Best Dance category, where Raymond was, for many, the lead contender.
If Usher was disappointed, he didn't let it show. When he launched the "OMG" portion of his performance, the stage seemed to disappear, as red laser lights moved forward in blinding configurations spelling out O.M.G. and Usher's name. More dancers lowered from the ceiling on Cirque du Soleil-esque contraptions, dipping in and out of the red beams. Such a 3-D light display could probably have been seen from the moon, if it weren't for the roof of the Nokia Theatre.
Usher ended his set standing, head back, with his arms outstretched in the Jesus pose. He didn't say a word. Didn't need to.
The Moonmen have all been handed out and the stars have gone home, but there's plenty of 2010 MTV Video Music Awards news, interviews, behind-the-scenes scoop, party reports and more still to come, so keep it locked on MTVNews.com.

MTV reality star Amber Portwood is under investigation for domestic abuse -- after the Indiana state police, and millions of viewers, watched her attack her estranged fiance Gary Shirley on an episode of Teen Mom. According to new reports, Portwood could face felony charges -- meaning jail -- for punching Shirley in front of their 18-month-old daughter Leah. Not only that, but MTV staffers could be facing misdemeanor charges for witnessing domestic abuse and not reporting it. (Watch the Today show's report on the investigation, including clips from the show, below.)
Teen Mom, obviously, is supposed to be gritty: a real-life abstinence PSA, and a counter-argument to those who think 16 and Pregnant romanticized teen pregnancy. The girls on this show lead difficult, unenviable lives. Amber Portwood obviously doesn't have the adult coping skills necessary to deal with her situation: Instead of solving her problems, she lashes out, sometimes violently. Is there a lesson in there? Yes. Is it compelling TV? Sure. But should MTV have stopped rolling film when people started getting hurt? That's the tricky part.
Portwood's fiance is a large guy, and we'd venture to guess if he'd punched her (and not vice versa), then somebody would have called the police. The disturbing thing is that Amber is not kidding around with those punches. It looks like she may have actually wounded Shirley. Which leads to the worst revelation of all: Amber Portwood is a violent person raising a very young child. Even if she's never laid a hand on her daughter, she's exhibiting a pattern of behavior that could put her child in danger. (Her confession on Tuesday's Teen Mom reunion show that she doesn't remember the incident makes the whole thing even scarier.) And that's why Child Protective Services has stepped in.
Here's what MTV needs to teach its staffers: Children who witness violent behavior are more likely to exhibit violent behavior. They're even more likely to become abusers as adults. If children are witnessing violence at home, then they are not in a safe home, period. Anybody who witnesses a child in a dangerous situation has a moral obligation to speak up -- even if it doesn't make for great TV.
Do you think Teen Mom star Amber Portwood should go to jail? What about the MTV crew? Chime in below!

'I have not been approached to fill in for Robert Plant on the Zeppelin tour, but that isn't to say I won't be,' singer says.
By Chris Harris
Former Soundgarden and Audioslave frontman Chris Cornell has spoken out for the first time about rumors that he's been asked to fill in for Robert Plant on a proposed Led Zeppelin reunion tour. The trek would feature original guitarist Jimmy Page, original bassist John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham taking over on drums for his late father, John Bonham.
Cornell has been mentioned — along with Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, former Van Halen frontman Sammy Hagar, White Stripes mastermind Jack White and Alter Bridge's Myles Kennedy — as a potential Plant fill-in. Plant has already said that he wouldn't take part in the tour.
"I have not been approached so far to fill in for Robert Plant on the upcoming Zeppelin tour, but that isn't to say I won't be," Cornell told MTV News. "I've heard that from about 200 people now, and it might be one of those situations where it's just an online rumor or it might be true. But if you see anyone from Led Zeppelin around, let me know. I think I should actually fill in for Jimmy Page on the Robert Plant/ Alison Krauss tour."
Cornell's denial comes just a day after Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford confirmed reports that frontman Steven Tyler recently met with Zeppelin for an impromptu jam session. "They did it for fun," Whitford said during an appearance on the syndicated show "Todd N Tyler Radio Empire." "I actually think Jimmy wanted Steven to come over and play a little bit because I think he was trying to light a fire under Robert."
Rumors of a Zeppelin reunion tour have abounded since the iconic band played a single reunion set last year at London's O2 Arena. Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider added fuel to the fire last month when he revealed that the group was thinking of touring, with or without Plant.
According to Snider, the rest of the band told Plant, " 'We're all rehearsed, we're ready to go. Here's a gazillion dollars on the table. If you don't do it, we're going out with this kid [Myles Kennedy].' "
"And he can sing the sh-- out of Zeppelin," Snider added. "They're going to hope that Robert, at the last minute, will go, 'OK,' and step in."
In a recent interview, Jones told BBC Radio Devon that a new singer was being sought to take over for Plant. "We are trying out a couple of singers," he said. "We want to do it. It's sounding great, and we want to get on and get out there."
But Jones insists that he, Page and Bonham aren't interested in finding a Plant clone. "It's got to be right," he said. "There's no point in just finding another Robert. You could get that out of a tribute band, but we don't want to be our own tribute band. There would be a record and a tour, but everyone has to be onboard."
Of course, even if Zeppelin were to approach him, Cornell might be too busy to take over vocals for the band. His upcoming Timbaland-produced solo LP, Scream, will be released within the next few months. Cornell told MTV News last month that some of his fans might consider Scream something of a departure, but he doesn't see it that way.
"It makes me happy that there's this perception that I have a group of fans that I'm now sort of throwing a curve at and what their reaction will be," he said. "But I've been in this situation so many times already. When I put out [1999's] Euphoria Morning, my main goal was to create an album that sounded like nothing I'd done in Soundgarden, and I did that. I also had that with Temple of the Dog, where I showed up with songs that weren't necessarily riff-based. And then, of course, the pairing of me and members of Rage Against the Machine had everyone sort of speculating about what that would sound like.
"It feels like I've done this so many times that when it's presented to me as being a departure, I feel that's a misconception," he added. "I feel like that's my theme at this point."

CHICAGO — Chicago fans are some of the most loyal around — not only to their sports teams, but to their musicians as well. Kanye West was greeted on Tuesday night with a warm, Windy City homecoming as more than 300 people, including media types, local artists and friends who supported him on his ride up, gathered at the ICON Theater in Chicago's South Loop for an advance look at his movie, "Runaway," which premieres on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET on MTV and BET.
The 35-minute film includes nine unreleased songs that drive the story of a phoenix (Selita Ebanks), that mythical bird with a penchant for fire, who falls from the sky. West rescues her, but soon learns that he can't change her destiny.
Before the film began, West humbly addressed the crowd, giving fans a chance to see a softer side of him.
"For him to come home to Chicago and do this, this is a great way for redemption," said Sean Knight, who was in the audience.
"It gave me a different perspective on Kanye's music and personality," Bretagne Lenox added. "He has changed."
West spoke of his conviction and passion and an artist's duty to elevate culture in a way that makes things better for future generations. "Let's not let the culture down and do some awesome sh--," he urged the audience. "We need to appreciate life, look at art and take time. ... Do something because you feel so convicted."
He also said this duty was the driving force behind the movie's use of culturally significant imagery. There are ballet dancers donning traditional tutus, a lamb and deer hanging out in the backyard, and the movie's most profound symbol, the phoenix. The bird may represent West's genius and the way he is compelled by something so strong he has no choice but to move forward, or maybe it is just a simple symbol of reinvention.
But whatever the interpretation, Chicago fans agreed that West's goal of colliding culturally inspired visuals with pop music is a step in the right direction.
"It was breathtaking," said Kevin Schwarz after the screening. "The music and the imagery, there are no words. And when he talked about his perspective on parents and doing things for the future, one day I will be a father and I want to pass it on too."
Chicago was the fourth stop of his preview tour, which will continue in New York on Thursday.
Kanye West's "Runaway" will premiere on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET on MTV, MTV2 and BET, and will also stream live on MTV.com, BET.com and VH1.com, followed by a live Q&A session on MTV.

You know what would go great with that eye shadow? Some One Less Lonely Girl lavender nail polish. Luckily, your boy Justin Bieber is thinking only of you and is about to launch an exclusive line of polishes called One Less Lonely Girl at Wal-Mart, inspired by his biggest hits.
According to AOL's Stylelist, Bieber has teamed up with Nicole by OPI to design for a collection of nail polishes that will hit stores just in time for the holidays. Among the primary colors on tap are One Less Lonely Glitter (lavender), Prized Possession Purple (grape), Give Me the First Dance (silver), Me + Blue (dark blue), OMB! (bright red) and Step 2 the Beat of My Heart (heart-shaped glitter). The first six shades will be available in December, with eight others to follow in January.
After debuting exclusively at Wal-Mart, the shades will then be available at Target, Sears and other mass merchandisers in February. That's not the only Bieb schwag that will be hitting stores over the next few months. The singer has his first book, "Justin Bieber: First Step 2 Forever: My Story," out in stores on October 12, a bevy of Halloween costume options, his upcoming line of dolls (also due in December) and his in-process 3-D concert movie, slated for release on February 11.
If none of those is up your alley, Bieber has plenty of other gift ideas in his official store), from a set of Christmas cards ($30), to a full-size cardboard stand-up ($35), aluminum water bottle ($15), lunch box ($30) and rubber bracelet ($10).

Teen Mom star Maci Bookout and Ryan Edwards, the father of her son Bentley, are seeing more of each other than any other time since breaking up last fall.
“We are friends, but up to a point,” Ryan says, noting that a certain two-year-old is the reason. “We are trying to be nice to each other for Bentley’s sake.”
Sounds good, right? Not if you're Maci Bookout, according to reports ...
TEEN MOM NEWS ALERT: Maci still hearts Ryan!
Despite the fact that she's dating Kyle King, seeing handsome Ryan so often has to be difficult for the 19-year-old Maci, who many say is still in love with him.
Maci denied earlier reports that she's back with Ryan Edwards, but the cover story in OK! suggests that she was interested in giving their romance another try.
It was Ryan who put the kibosh on that idea, apparently.
The reason? A pretty 18-year-old thing named Morgan.
Poor Maci. Hope Morgan has an unlisted number ...

Being an actor isn?t always a walk-in-the-park, and Kristen Stewart can attest to that.
For the Bella Swan babe?s latest flick ?Welcome to the Rileys? - where she plays a young stripper - learning to pole dance was a requirement.
At Monday night?s premiere in New York City, Stewart told press of her new experience, ?I did two weeks of it?.I did learn how to do it and I got bruises all over my legs. It?s hard, but it actually doesn?t look painful, but it is. It kinda beats you up.?
Of playing a troubled 17-year-old in the film out October 29, Kristen says, "This is something that any girl can relate to: if you love yourself and you respect yourself, that's the only way anybody else is going to.?
