So much for that rumored split! Proving their romance is hotter than ever, 50-year-old George Clooney and his new gal pal Stacy Keibler, 31, publicly stepped out as a couple for the first time, attending multiple events this weekend at the ongoing Toronto International Film Festival.
Keibler, a former WWE star and Dancing with the Stars contestant, had not been at Clooney's side at the Venice and Telluride Film Festivals, where George was busy promoting two new films, The Descendents and The Ides of March (which he also directed). While a source close to the new couple said that the two were now "exclusive," her absence was definitely noted.
But things were different in Toronto, where Clooney and Keibler attended Fox Searchlight, Belvedere and Vanity Fair's Toronto Film Festival bash together, as well as Grey Goose Soho House party. And, what's more, they seemed like a loving couple while doing it.
"They were comfortable and affectionate and seemed socially poised as a couple," a witness tells Us Weekly. "The two clearly work not only as a pair, but also independently. (Stacy) really stood on her own. George was not overprotective and didn't have to look after her."
By all accounts, Keibler was comfortable surrounded by the elite Hollywood crowd. "She was confident in her own space. She would come over to (George) and rub his back, then separate from him again," the witness adds. "I've never seen him more comfortable."
Another source concurs, saying: "One of the recurring themes of the night was that Stacy had her own conversations going on and that she wasn't following Clooney around like a puppy dog."
Clooney split with his girlfriend of two years, Elisabetta Canalis, 32, earlier this summer, amid rumors that she wanted to get married and start a family. So long as Keibler doesn't force those issues, it sounds like this relationship just might have legs.
