With each day bringing a piece of Charlie Sheen news that's crazier than the last, Warners Brothers has finally made it official: the actor has been fired from Two and a Half Men.
Just moments ago, the company issued the following statement: "After careful consideration, Warner Bros. Television has terminated Charlie Sheen's services on 'Two and a Half Men,' effective immediately."
Over the last several weeks, Sheen has taken shots at creator Chuck Lorre, demanded a raise to $3 million per episode, paraded live-in porn stars around to various interviews, referred to fans as "trolls" and "losers" and started his own talk show on the Web that can only be described as... disturbing.
He continues to win, however. So at least he has that going for him.
Will Two and a Half Men go on without its star? No decision has been made. But expect the next rambling batch of Charlie Sheen quotes to be unleashed in 3... 2... 1...
Update: Yup. There they are. Sheen has responded by saying: This is very good news. They continue to be in breach, like so many whales. It is a big day of gladness at the Sober Valley Lodge because now I can take all of their bazillions, never have to look at whatshiscock again and I never have to put on those silly shirts for as long as this warlock exists in the terrestrial dimension.
UPDATE: TMZ has obtained the 11-page letter that outlines the basis for this decision. In it, Warner Bros. cites the Plaza Hotel incident, refers to Sheen's "felony offense" and "moral turpitude" and writes: "Your client has been engaged in dangerously self-destructive conduct and appears to be very ill."
